I'd love to see you try this recipe with less (expensive) ingredients. I understand you said you wanted lots of dairy flavor, but I'm inclined to think that could be achieved with a lower quantity of various dairy ingredients? I'm also surprised that this calls for both creme friache and whipped cream, on top of the other dairy. I don't know it just seems like overkill. I wanted to try it when I heard the recipe title, but this is certainly too expensive for me, and certainly isn't, typically.

The recipe lists cream cheese and sour cream as ingredient substitutions, which I do consider to be more accessible and inexpensive, however I am very open to any other ingredient suggestions. It is also very heavy on the dairy as described, but can be adjusted to your preferences (such as taking out an ingredient, like the whipped cream or the creme fraiche). If the pumpkin part of this recipe intrigued you initially, caramelized pumpkin can totally be applied to most banana pudding recipes and will easily mix into most pudding bases.
